Each spell of fresh snowfall in Spiti creates a problem for its people. The traditionally made mud houses that are warmer and suitable for the climate of this area are easily damaged if the snow stays on their roofs for a long period of time. The snow will melt into water, that will damage the roof if not removed.

So every time it snows in Spiti, the people have to clear it off their roofs. Even in sub zero temperatures and even when its still snowing on them. Here the people of Kaza are cleaning snow on the second day of the snowfall in -5.6˚C.
